Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Did you make your Christmas cards this year? I sooo did not.... BUT, I did just finish a set of ten Christmas-y Thank You cards that I love to pieces and will be sharing very soon! Meanwhile, I wanted to share yet another craft I enjoy... embroidery. I made this set of seven flour sack towels for a girlfriend for Christmas....
I forgot to take a picture of these before I sent them off to her, so she was kind enough to take a few photos for me to share here. Did I mention she has skillz in the photography department? She does! That picture up there looks so good I can't even believe I made those! lol. :)
I used about four different colors of DMC floss to match her kitchen. On the few sets of towels I've done in the past (and the one I'm working on right now), I've always been very eclectic with my towels. Each one was different. If they were all cats, there'd be all different colored cats, no central theme. I love the way the small color palette pulled all of these together though. Here are a few close-ups:
If you enjoy embroidery and like this set, it's by Aunt Martha's Iron On Transfers, and it's called Mocha Madness, as the title of this post suggests.
Stay tuned for another post in the next day or two of those thank you cards I made. You won't be disappointed! I have them sitting here in their clear envies waiting to be mailed, and I just want to sit and stare at them. lol! I think I should start stamping more so the novelty of the finished work wears off a bit. ha ha. :)
God Bless,

Hey Sarah...Love your towels. My mom made me some flour sack towels years ago and I have used them till they have holes in them :(. I love the material, besides being pretty they work so well to dry! One lucky friend...and so nice of her to photograph these for you!
These are just darling! I'm a huge coffee fan, so I might have to try making some.
Hey there! These towels are amazing...I love them! I did not make my Christmas cards this year. We got a great (cheap) deal on some pretty Thomas Kinkade cards at the end of the year last year so we decided to do that instead for this year. I loved not feeling pressured to make a million cards! Can't wait to see your handiwork though!
I have some Christmas cards made but didn't send a one.
These are fabulous!! What a great gift idea!
Hope that 2011 brings you tons of happiness and blessings!
I haven't done embroidery in so very long! That was actually the very first craft thing I learned how to do, my mom taught me and I made pillowcases for my grandparents the year I was in kindergarden. These are gorgeous!
