Music of the Soul

Ok friends, I've got a lot on my mind today, so sit back and relax because this could very well be my longest post EVER. Are you scared? lol!

Here is my card for today. This is the third and final card I submitted for my 3 Little Dreams design team application. I have been singing my entire life, so this bella HAD to be mine! We made a card with this layout YEARS ago at a stamp camp with my (now) up-upline in SU!. I just loved the layout, so I hung onto that card knowing some day I'd recreate it on my own, and I finally did. Here is a picture of the card looking down from above:

And this is what the card looks like when it's open. It sits almost like a tent (hence why I call it my "tent card"). Isn't that sooo cool? Just think of the possibilities you have with this one! You could do so many things using sentiments as the main image for people to set out on their desk, etc.

And here is the inside:

I've been wanting to post this FOR.EV.ER., but had a sneaky suspicion that someone out there might ask me for measurements on all of these layers, so I kept putting it off until I got it measured. Here's the info:

Base (green) is 5.5 x 4.25
Layer 1 (hot pink) is 4 x 9, scored at 5.25
Layer 2 (green) is 2.5 x 9, scored at 4.5
DP (yellow plaid) is 3.5 x 3.75
Layer 3 (hot pink, behind bella) is 4.25 x 2.25
Layer 4 (image) is 4 x 2
Layer 5 (sentiment) is 4 x 2

Got it? Ok, so here's what you do... Fold layer one at the score and center larger half on base, with the score at the bottom. Fold layer two at the score, and center inside of layer one, with the score at the top. Leaving layer two open, close layer one and add DP to the space that now faces up. Close Layer two, and add layers three and four on top and stick layer five (with the sentiment) inside. If you make one, be sure to leave me a comment with the link so I can check it out!

Did I mention that this was also one of the cards I made for the bella swap I hosted? Seeee, when I have these things you need to sign up for them! You get good stuff!

Oh... and one quick thing that came to mind with all this talk of scoring. Did you know that when you score a piece of paper you are supposed to fold it towards the bump? I always thought the bump was supposed to be on the outside!! DOH! MAN, does it work better when you do it the right way!

Details (specific to this card):
Stamps: Musicabella, Sentiment (can get info if anyone is interested)
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Old Olive, Positively Pink, Whisper White, Hobby Lobby 12x12 scrapbook paper for DP
Other: Poinsettia Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), Copic Markers

And I also have to give a little WOOT! out to Dani at Dani Gets Crafty and Jacquie at Javablustamper. They both gave me the Brillante Weblog award seen below this week. You know, I have to be honest, I have seen blogs with oodles of awards and I will admit that I kind of (a) thought they were cheesy and (b) thought they stole them off another blog just to have them (lmao - hey, at least I'm honest!) but it kind of does feel good to be recognized for something! It's good to know I'm not just talking to cyberspace, you know? And yeah, I'll totally be adding an awards section to my sidebar for this baby (hypocrite? what? huh? ;o) )

I'm supposed to pick seven blogs that inspire me, but I have close to 100 blogs in my reader... and they aren't there collecting dust! Sooooo, that said, if I comment on your blog with some regularity, you have inspired me and you are welcome to claim this award as well!

There! I've said my piece!

Enjoy the day,

Oh this is really cute! I will have to make one soon. I just received my very first bella card in person yesterday and was surprised at how much smaller the image is than I thought. Those things take a lot more skill to color than I thought! Congratulations on your award!
