I needed a generic card for a male friend, and this is what I came up with. I think that black and white DP is beautiful (Dorada Vista, from i {heart} papers), and it lends itself quite nicely to a mancard. The oval is Riding Hood Red, cut and embossed with the largest oval Nestability, and then pierced around the inside edge. The ribbon was a gift from my friend Courtney. The sentiment is from an old SU! set called Friendship Flowers. I don't normally do cards with just a sentiment and no image, but I liked the simplicity of this.
I also thought I'd mention this book that I recently finished reading:
I am a huge fan of Picoult's writings, and this book was no exception. The story centers around the kidnapping of a little girl, and as a mother I found the entire story riveting. Like all of her other books, I was instantly drawn in and barely able to put the book down. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys dramatic fiction. Most all of her stories involve a crime of some sort and the legal process that follows (this one included), but she writes in such a way that you really feel as if you're part of the story. It's wonderful. Click on my "Books" label to see some of the other books I've read, if you're interested. I read tons, but have only remembered to blog about a few, unfortunately. I'm trying to be better about that!
Enjoy the day,

Love the card, and love Picoult's writing. Haven't read that one -- it's going on my list now!
I'm also a fan of Jodi's novels. I keep a spreadsheet of the books I want to read and mark them with the date and a comment once I've read them. I haven't found an easy way to link it to my blog. I usually listen and read about 3-4 books a week and understand how tricky it can be to keep a blog updated with them. Thanks for sharing your comments!
Great guy card Sarah...love it!
This is such a GREAT card for either a male or female! I agree...that dp is gorgeous. I will def. write that book down to look up at our library. I still want to read The Shack as well. It's Christian fiction about a family on vacation and their youngest girl gets kidnapped and unfortunately murdered, and when nobody can find her, the dad keeps getting this voice (from God?) to go to the shack in the Oregon wilderness. (and I'm from the Oregon High Desert, so that perked my interest as well). Have a great day!
I love red, white, and black together! This is a great card for anyone, but it does work for a guy card and they are so hard!
I'm a big fan of Jodi Picoult's books too. I've read this one already. I like Joy Fielding a lot too. If you haven't read her, you should try her out.
Love the card and I will have to read this book. I love most of her books as well...I am almost done with the Twilight Saga, lol.
Ohhh good! I love Jodi Piccoult too and just finished the Twilight series and was in need of another good book! Thanks for the recommendation! Love the black, red and white card too! This is lovely! The paper piercing is just the right touch along the corners! TFS!
This is gorgeous Sarah! Love that DP! The touch of red looks great! Thanks for the book recommendation! I'm always looking for something to read =).
I will have to look for that book. I haven't read anything by her yet.
Love the card, especially that black background. I have just make a few cards with just a sentiment and I like the way you did yours here. I think mine always look like they aren't quite done. All the extra details make it look complete.
Love the card! Very nice.
I'll have to check out the book. Been thinking I need something new to read! :)
